TERMINOLOGY — canonical slugs (James Allen)
Canonical slug table for this KB. Concept notes in concepts/ are named by these
slugs (English, hyphenated), following the As a Man Thinketh vocabulary. The
«do not flatten to» column guards against collapsing Allen's terms into their
modern motivational-poster descendants — the "law of attraction" / "manifest
your reality" genre now flattens him.

Notes on flattening
- thought-and-circumstance is not the "law of attraction" as wish-granting.
Allen is explicit: «Men do not attract that which they want, but that which
they are.» Circumstance reveals character, it does not deliver desires;
«Circumstance does not make the man; it reveals him to himself». - thought-and-character is a moral claim about causation, not a slogan: «A
man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all
his thoughts.» The book is a law of cause and effect in the moral realm, not
a hack. - thought-and-achievement is anchored in sacrifice and individual
responsibility, not effortless manifestation: «There can be no progress, no
achievement without sacrifice»; «individual responsibility must be absolute». - visions-and-ideals is disciplined aspiration, not idle wishing: «you, too,
youthful reader, will realize the Vision (not the idle wish) of your heart». - serenity is «the last lesson of culture, the fruitage of the soul» —
earned self-control, not a mood or a relaxation technique.
